Rivers Acting Judge Warns Against Corruption
The acting Chief Judge
of Rivers State, Justice Daisy .W. Okocha, says her administration would not condone any forms of corruption in the judiciary.
Justice Daisy .W. Okocha was appointed and sworn in as the new acting Chief Judge by Governor Nyesom Wike following the crisis that has engulfed the leadership of the judiciary in the state for more than one year.
Justice Daisy Okocha stated this while addressing judges, magistrates, staff of judiciary, lawyers and other stakeholders in Judiciary in the state during court session to mark her swearing in as well as to kick start court activities in the state held at the Judiciary Auditorium, Monday, in Port Harcourt.
She disclosed that her administration would have a zero tolerance to corruption of any sort and added that her administration would usher in a new dawn in the leadership of state judiciary.
According to her, security camera with high technology devices would be mounted at strategic positions within the Judiciary Complex to checkmate any forms of bribery and corruption in the Judiciary.
She promised to work with the Chief Registrar of the High Court to establish a special telephone directory that would promote easy access to her office by members of the public as well as staff of the Judiciary.
She opined that the period we are, calls for sobber reflexion of the past in the affairs of the judiciary in the state, adding that all hands must be on deck in the rebuilding process of the judiciary in the state.
Justice Daisy Okocha noted that Judges and their magistrate counter parts in the state were who paid their allowances since October last year and called on mutual relationship between the Bar and the Bench in other to move the judiciary forward.
