Ranking: Rugby Coach Optimistic Of Nigeria’s Progress
The Coach of Eco 2
Rugby Football Club (RFC) Kazeem Busari, has expressed optimism that the national team would move to Africa Cup 1B Division. 1B is a higher division in Rugby Football ranking in Africa.
Busari told newsmen in Lagos that he was certain that the national team, the Black Stallions, would perform excellently at the Africa Cup 1C.
The competition is scheduled from June 21 to June 24 in Lusaka, Zambia.
Host nation, Zambia, Nigeria and Zimbabwe would feature at the tournament.
“I am optimistic they will move to the next division which is Cup 1B and that brings the nation closer to the Olympics. The early camping will also help them,” he said.
Busari said that the 23 players currently in camp in Zambia, ahead of the event, should not undermine their opponents, urging them to be practical in their approach.
“They should not say because they have qualified for the All Africa Games, no one can defeat them. They should not look down on any team,” he said.
Busari, however, appealed to corporate organisations to come to the aid of the sport, stressing that rugby would soon become a sport to reckon with in the country.
“We seriously need the help of sponsors; these boys have been going out to do the country proud and with time, the sport will certainly dominate other sports in the country,” he added.
