Okorocha Inaugurates 8th Imo Assembly

Okorocha of Imo State  inaugurated the 8th Imo House of Assembly and urged members to justify the confidence reposed in them by the electorate.
Performing the ceremony in Owerri, the governor noted that the electorate invested much hope in them to deliver the dividend of democracy in tangible terms.
He said that their emergence as legislators was not an accident of fate but a direct result of the faith their constituents had in them and advised them to put their interests first.
The governor further urged them to be selfless in delivering the dividends of democracy to their constituents.
“To whom much is given, much is expected; you are elected because your people believe they will get the dividends of democracy through you, “ he said.
Okorocha called on the members to remain united during their tenure in spite of their party affiliations.
Mr Iheanacho Ihim (APC, Okigwe) was inaugurated as the Speaker.
He was nominated by Mr Ikechukwu Amuka (Ideato South, APC).
Mr Ugonna Ozurigbo (APC Nwangele) was inaugurated as Deputy Speaker. He was nominated by Dr Uche Oguwuike (APC Ikeduru,).
the Speaker promised to take his appointment as a challenge.
He said that the House under his leadership would discharge its duties in line with the provisions of congressional democracy engaging all the arms of government for the common good of all Imo people.
Ihim urged members of the House to cooperate with him to make the task of leadership easy while promising that the election of other principal officers of the House would take place at its next sitting.
