The Rivers State Com
missioner for Housing, Mr Emma Okah has canvassed for engagement of credible minds in ideas that will assist in leading the state out of its present socio-economic woes.
Okah, who stated this in his facebook post on Thursday, described the bitterness between supporters of Governor Nyesom Wike and supporters of former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as needless.
He said, “Today, Rivers people are divided between pro-Amaechi and pro-Wike. This dichotomy is needless. All we desire in our State is development, unity and fairness.
“As part of the Nyesom Wike government, I want to pursue the happiness of Rivers people and the growth of our State. In the last two weeks, some of the things we are seeing and hearing mangle logic. They belie credulity. “Although not much has been put in the public domain, in the weeks ahead, this status may change. I will like to engage credible minds in ideas that will lead us out of this present day bitterness in the State. Come on board and let us reason together’’.
Okah criticized the Amaechi government for unable to pay arrears of salaries of civil servants in the state, pensioners, refuse disposal contractors, school fees of students sent abroad on Rivers State Government scholarship.
These, he said, “are issues that should agitate our minds and not whether one person is in All Progressives Congress (APC) and the other is in Peoples Democratic Party.
“Good roads, hospitals, schools etc do not discriminate between one party and the other. If they are good and functional, we as stakeholders will benefit from their goodness’’.
He also condemned the  proposal by the outgone administration to build a private house in Asokoro, Abuja at the cost of N1.2billion.
He also accused the outgone administration of withdrawing the sum of N812million from the state treasury in May 2015 for the purpose of furnishing the same house.
According to him,‘’ The entire Government House, Port Harcourt including the Presidential Lodge therein cost a previous administration the sum of N2bn to build, using Julius Berger.”
