NVBF Opens Camp For Beach Volleyballers
The Nigeria Volleyball
Federation (NVBF) has opened camp in Lagos for eight beach volleyballers in preparation for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships scheduled for The Netherlands.
The Federation’s Secretary-General, Adisa Beyioku told newsmen in Abuja that the camping programme would be for two weeks.
“The Federation has opened camp for six female and two male beach volleyballers and they will be in camp for two weeks.
“At the end of it all, a female team will be picked to depart for Holland for the World Championships.
“This means that the camp will be open from June 11 to June June 25,’’ he said.
The championships is scheduled for June 26 to July 5, with the Nigerian side taking part in the female championship.
The NVBF secretary-general further said the camping would also serve as the male and female teams’ preliminary preparation for the
11th All-Africa Games (AAG) scheduled for September 4 to September 19.
“This is because some of the players in camp for the World Championships are to be used for the AAG in Brazzaville, Congo in September,’’ he said.
Beyioku listed the male players invited to camp to strengthen the team for the World Championships as Goodluck Ayansodike and Kayode Ajilore.
“The female players are Priscilla Agera, Isabella Laju, Hajara Audu, Mariam Garba, Blessing David and Tochukwu Nnoruga,’’ he said.
The NVBF official said one coach and one official will join the camp as Coach and Head of Delegation respectively.
“These are coach Francis Imodu and Musa Nimrod who is the Chairman of the Federation’s Beach Volleyball Committee,’’ he said.
