The Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that his mandate is not to be on war path with the Federal Government, but to work with the Federal Government to attract development projects to Rivers State.
The governor made the declaration during a special thanksgiving service held at the Salvation Ministries, Glorious Chapel, in Port Harcourt, yesterday.
Speaking at a reception held at Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, shortly after the thanksgiving ceremony, the Rivers State governor, said Rivers State was in dire need of development, in every sector of the economy, and assumed that his administration will harnesse the enormous human and natural resources in the state to herald an era of Rivers State as a costly economic and political bride needed at the centre to stimulate the nation’s economy. He pointed out that his administration would partner with the Federal Government in terms of mutual bargaining in economic growth.
The governor, who described Rivers State as a PDP state, however, noted that his administration will not lose focus in consolidating the objectives of the Party in the State in line with its mandate of delivering the dividends of democracy in the state.
Earlier, the Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, had during the thanksgiving service, dedicated his victory to God, and thanked, the founder of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyiemie for giving him the opportunity of the thanksgiving in his Church.
The governor assured that he would govern the state with the fear of God, and solicited for the support of Rivers people to enable him succeed.
Earlier in his homily, the Senior Pastor and founder of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyiemie, had urged the governor to rule with the fear of God and engage men and women of credible character in his cabinet to enable him succeed in his administration.
The man of God tasked politicians generally to develop the virtues of statesmanship and patriotism, noting that “success did not depend on accumulation of wealth but on positive impact and legacy”.
He cautioned the governor to beware of Praise Singers and sycophants, but accept constructive criticism as a key yardstick in his administration.
The thanksgiving service was attended by, Prominent Rivers Stakeholders, politicians, Traditional Rulers and Clergy  men.
