The police last Friday
arraigned a 33 year old mason, Abel Sarle, for alleged house-breaking and theft.
The accused, who resides at No.16 Gindiri street, Garki  two, Abuja, is standing trial on a two-count charge of house breaking and theft before a Gude Upper Area Court.
The Prosecutor, Sergeant Mohammed Garba, told the court that one Adesupo Olowu of Gindiri street, Garki two, Abuja, reported the matter at the Garki police station on May 25.
He said that sometime in April, while the complainant travelled to Lagos for official engagements, the accused broke into his house through the sitting-room window.
Garba said that the accused stole a Samsung Plasma television set, a DVD player and 30 litres of diesel from the complainant’s generator.
The prosecutor said that the police discovered during its investigation that the front door of the complaints house was opened with its normal keys.
He said that the accused was the only person that knew where the complainant had hidden the keys before he travelled.
Garba also said that the complainant’s neighbour saw the accused while he was allegedly siphoning the diesel from the complaint’s generator.
The prosecutor said that offences committed by the accused contravened section 346 and 287 of the penal code.
