INTELS Reiterates Sports Dev In Rivers
Inspite of its giant strides
in oil and gas related activities, the INTELS Nig Ltd, says it also has passion in sports development in Rivers State.
The General Manager, Government and Corporate Affairs of INTELS, Chief David Alagoa, who disclosed this in a press briefing at the conference Hall of the company at Onne, in Eleme Local Government Area last Monday said the policy would form part of the company’s corporate social resposniblites of the firm to its host communities in the state.
Alagoa said the development of sports would also assist their host to discover hidden talents in their communities.
The chief noted that the importance of sports cannot be over-emphasised, pointing out that apart from the friendship sports has created, it also makes the body fit and alert.
According to him, sports has been a source of livelihood in recent times, and reiterated the company’s resolve to give priority attention to sport activities.
He noted that as they develop along with their host communities, they would be able to achieve the company’s goal, stressing that they would continue to work closely with the community.
Alagoa further disclosed that the company as part of it sports development scheme had build a mini-staduim at Ogu in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, organised a football competition at Ogu and Onne, sponsored Ogu badminton team,organised a traditional wrestling at Rumuokwurushi and Ogbunabli communities in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area among others.
He further hinted that the sports programmes has discovered some hidden talents that could represent the state and thanked their communities for their mutual understanding and co-operation.
