Former Deputy Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State and stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Alphine Whyte, has called on Rivers people to close ranks and always pray for the new governor of the state, Chief Nyesom Wike so that God would guide all his actions and direct his steps in the next four years.

Whyte, who made the call in an interview in Port Harcourt said there was the need for the people to also embrace peace now, instead of fanning the ambers of war and conflicts, saying,” this is a time to make peace.”

“Wike has done so much that we can’t afford him to fail at this time. The Bible says there is a time to make war and there is a time to make peace. I feel this is a time to make peace in Rivers State,” he said.

While describing the successful inauguration of the new governor as historic, he urged Rivers people to rally round the new administration with prayers.

The former deputy PHALGA chairman further said that the inauguration of the new governor had proved that he (Wike) has divine mandate.

He said it was necessary for the people to always allow God to choose those to rule the state, and described Governor Wike as “the Moses of our time and liberator of the state.”

He said the governor’s pronouncements so far were capable of taking the state to greater heights, as they were in line with the expectations of the people.

He said the restoration of the state judiciary was the right thing that had been done at the right time, and urged Rivers people to safeguard it against any form of abuse and desecration.

The PDP stalwart further said that there was the need for Rivers people to give the governor undiluted support for him to succeed instead of engaging in the pull him down syndrome.
