Don Urges Lawmakers To Respect Party Supremacy
Members of the
National Assembly have been advised to respect their parties’ directive by accepting the list of principal officers submitted to them for ratification.
Head of European Languages, Usman Danfodio University, Dr Shehu Sidi, gave the advice during interview with our correspondent in Sokoto on Friday.
Sidi said it was high time the legislators realized that the party was above individual interest.
The don also advised the legislators to concentrate on initiating meaningful legislations that would move the nation forward instead of engaging in physical combat during the proceedings at the assembly.
He said members of the National Assembly must be disciplined and respectful to the party guidelines.
Sidi explained that it was only by so doing that internal democracy could be sustained and enshrined in the party.
He also advised the legislators to play responsible politics to ensure the emergence of competent and reliable leaders that would ensure good governance.
He said the era of political violence was over as it did not augur well for the country.
Sidi, who called on the lawmakers to work for the development of the country, stressed the need for Nigerians to support them in order to build a strong nation.
