Cult Groups Seek Divine Intervention In Etche

Following the determina
tion by security operatives to clampdown the upsurge of cult activities Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, various cult groups in the area have resorted to seek the face of God for their safety.
The peaceful cohesion of the local government area has been threatened by the activities of two major  rivalry cult groups, Dey-gbam and Dey-well, which had led to the destruction of houses and lost of lives.
The activities of these groups also affected both economic and social life as well as governance in the local government area.
However, the recent clampdown of the cultists by the security operatives in the area propelled them to embrace God’s intervention as well as publicly denounce their membership in the Dey-gbam and Dey-well cult groups.
Obibi and Okeli (II) communities have been the major operational base of Dey-gbam and Dey-well cult groups in the area.
Members of the Dey-gbam cult groups over the weekend at Obibi in conjuction with some Pentecostal churches in the local government area held a church service programme to seek God’s forgiveness as well as denunciation of their membership in the cult groups.
According to an eye witness, members of the dreaded Dey-gbam group during the church service vowed not to return back to the group adding that they will not cause pains in the life of any individual again.
They said they were ready to return their arma if their safety and protection were guaranteed by the law enforcement agencies assuring that they would help in maintaining peace in the area.
They also begged for forgiveness from members of the society who they have in one way or the other inflicted injuries and caused grieve pains to forgive them as they will not involve in such acts again.
