Coach Urges Development Of Rugby
The Coach of Eco 2
Rugby Football Club (RFC), Kazeem Busari, has appealed to Corporate organisations to sponsor the league and programmes of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF).
Busari made the plea in an interview with newsmen in Lagos, following the performance of home-based players that featured at the All Africa Games qualifier held in Lome.
Ten out of the 12 players that featured at the qualifier were home-based players, selected from the Rugby league.
Busari noted that programmes, such as the ‘I Try and Get into Rugby’ for school children, should be promoted.
“Nigeria’s performance at the qualifiers was commendable because majority of the players were home-based.
“It shows that the league is actually fulfilling its purpose; unlike when we were depending on foreign-based players.
“It shows the league is growing but needs the help of sponsors, because it is from the league and developmental programmes that we will discover players,” he said.
He also commended the NRFF for ensuring that players and coaches were engaged in different programmes to improve their standard.
“Since this board came into office, they have ensured that we are not idle, the league across the nation is commendable.
“They even organised a seminar for coaches and players this year to ensure we are not behind,” he said.
