Avoid Dusty Environment, Health Worker Advises Asthma Patients

tensive Care Unit, Aminu  Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano, Mrs Evelyn Agu has advised asthma patients to always avoid dusty environment to reduce the risk of attack.
Agu gave the advice in a telephone interview with newsmen in Enugu.
She said that asthma patients should use mask to cover their nose and mouth whenever the environment is dusty in order not to in hale dust.
According to her, smoke from red oil being bleached with fire can trigger attack.
She urged asthma patients to stay in well ventilated houses and avoid crowded and congested places for their safety.
She explained that some early warning signs of asthma may not  prevent  patients from going  about their  normal daily  activities.
“Some of the signs are not severe enough  to stop patients from going about their daily activities.
“But by recognizing these signs, one  can stop asthma attack  or prevent it from getting worse,” she said.
Agu said that some early warning signs or symptoms of asthma include frequent cough, especially at night, shortness  of breath, tiredness or weakness when exercising.
According to her, other signs include wheezing or coughing after exercise, feeling tired and signs of cold or allergies.
