TUC Partners Firm To Build 100,000 Houses For Workers

gress (TUC) has partnered a private property firm, the Rock of Ages Properties Limited to develop about 100,000 housing units for members of the union across the country.
A release from the TUC, made available to The Tide revealed that the initiative will provide affordable housing for members of the union.
The president of the union, Comrade Boboboi Kaigama has already undertaken an inspection tour of the first cluster of 500 housing units of the project situated at Rock City Estate in Lugbe.
According to the release, the TUC president had said that the project would be supported by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) while members of the public subscribe to the National Housing Fund (NHF) could also benefit from the scheme.
According to him, the proposed housing units include two and three-bedroom apartments, three and four bedroom terrace duplexes as well as four bedroom semi-detached duplex and five bedroom fully detached duplexes.
The statement also explained that the property firm has agreed that with about N1.7 million deposit, the United Workers Housing scheme could be made available to workers and that subscribers could as well enjoy repayment period that lasts for about 30 years.
The release stated that private business owners, who do not subscribe to the NHF, can contribute 30-40 per cent equity repayment between one to three years.
The four-hectare allocation is expected to be completed in 12months.
