SARS Declares War On Cult Groups In Etche

Robbery Squard (SARS) popularly called SARS has declared war against two rival cult groups in Etche Local Government Area of the state. DeyGbam and Deywell.
The latest crack down mechanism by the security operatives follows the renewed attacks by the two cult groups on people and properties in some communities in Etche LGA in recent times.
The resurgence attacks by the group had left more than six persons dead and properties worth of millions destroyed.
This development led the Care-taker Committee Chairman, Charles Anyanmu Okada motorcycle from, 6pm to 6am to curtail the cultists in the area.
However, men of the SARS over the weekend commenced a manhunt operation at Okehi II and Obibi communities the strong hold of the two rival groups to fish out those responsible for the serial violence in the area.
A senior office of the command who spoke to The Tide in the success of the operation on condition of annonyanty said the operation was successful even as he described in as a good one.
According to him, the team was able to arrest two boys at Obibi community who are members of the gang, adding that one of the kingspins of the Dey-gbam group escaped after he was seriously manhandled when SARS stormed the community.
It was also learnt that members of the SARS also killed two of the Dey-well cult members at Okehi ll who engaged the team in exchange of gun fire, while others ran away.
The Tide learnt that the exercise will be a continuous one as the command has vowed to ensure that all members of the two rival groups were arrested.
An indigene of the area told The Tide that since SARs launched these operations there had been sign of relief to the people even as he urged the police to step efforts in that regard.
Communities in the local government area have been under series of attacks occasioned by the activities of these cult groups contending supremacy.
The state police command was yet to react on the matter.
