Kogi chapter of the Ni
geria Labour Congress (NLC) has appealed to civil servants in the state to remain calm while the issue of 40 per cent slash in their salaries is being resolved with the government.
Labour made the appeal Friday in Lokoja through a statement jointly signed by Chairman of the Chapter, Mr. Onu Edoka, TUC Chairman, Mr. Abdulazeez Ganiyu, and Chairman, Joint Negotiating Council, Mr. Aaron Ameji.
The statement said, labour held a meeting with Governor Idris Wada during which the governor pleaded for more time to enable him source for funds to pay the April salaries of workers.
It assured that labour would reject the 40 per cent slash in the salaries of workers on grade levels 7 and above being proposed by the government.
The statement appealed to workers to be patient and to give the governor more time to source for additional funds to pay their salaries.
“Workers will not accept any payment short of 100 per cent for the month of April.
Any attempt by the government to pay 60 per cent salaries will be rejected by workers”, the statement said.
