Publisher Wants Buhari To Inherit Jonathan’s Youth Programmes

A newspaper publisher,
    Mr Godwin Ezeemo, has appealed to President, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, to continue the youth-oriented programmes of the outgoing government.
Ezeemo made the appeal in Awka at a youth conference entitled ‘Nigeria South-East Youth: The Way Forward’ organised by the Nigeria Youth Volunteer Service (NYVS).
The publisher of Orient Daily appealed to the incoming administration to invest more on youth development and empowerment to create a crime-free society.
Ezeemo, who was the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) governorship candidate in the 2013 election in the state, regretted that youths had been schemed out of the socio-economic and political aspects of the country.
The Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Anambra, Elder Chris Eluemuno, re-presented  by retired Wing Commander Afam Ayika, charged the youth to remain focused and determined to achieve their visions in life.
The guest speaker, Prof. Kunle Obidike, said that punctuality, perfect understanding and avoidance of procrastination were of great value to youth emancipation.
The Area Manager of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Awka, Mrs Linda Egbonu, expressed its commitment to train and re-train Nigerian youths.
Egbonu called on the youth to imbibe the spirit of nationalism and ethical behavior in all their endeavors.
The Grand Patron of NYV South East and Traditional Ruler of Nibo, Eze Ugonwanne Ngene, urged youths to engage in activities that would better their lives.
Earlier in her remarks, the Superintendent of the Anambra State Volunteer Scheme, Mrs Ruth Okeke, reiterated the need for the people of the zone to look inward and marshal out workable plans for the youth.
Mr Ifeanyi Animalu and Miss Ngozi Ike, participants at the conference, vowed to be the generation of youths free from bribery and corruption.
Also speaking, a promoter of African culture, Dr Ramas Okoye-Asuzu. reiterated the need for governments at all levels to formulate and initiate friendly programmes and projects to enhance the image of the youth.
Okoye-Asuzu said that the youth would be more useful to themselves through capacity building, value re-orientation, skills acquisition and empowerment.
He said that if youths were well positioned, politicians would stop using them as tools for violence and corruption during and after elections.
