Abia State Governor
Theodore Orji has inaugurated High Court complex in Umuahia.
Speaking at the inauguration, Orji said that the construction of a befitting structure for the institutions of governance to serve the needs of the people and for democracy was essential.
He said the state government decided to build a befitting edifice that would give court workers comfortable work place.
“The work of governance is like a relay race; we expect the successor administration to take off from where this administration stopped,’’ he added.
The state’s Chief Judge, Mrs Theresa Uzokwe, commended the governor ‘s effort toward alleviating the problem of insufficient offices for judiciary workers.
“However, we pray that the area of repairs in the Abia judiciary offices will be given urgent attention by the government as well.
“I also want to point out that the Abia judiciary system needs to be computerised and repositioned in order to be the best in the nation.”
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Works, Mr Kingsley Mgbeahuru, said that the new High Court complex would enhance productivity of judicial officers.
Mgbeahuru then urged the workers to reciprocate the government’s gesture by keeping the complex clean and tidy, as well as do their best on the job.
