NNPC/Tennies Tourney: Champions Vow To Retain Titles
The male and female singles defending champions respectively of the ongoing NNPC-sponsored Chairman’s Cup Tavle Tennis competition in Lagos Azeez Odunlade and Bose Odusanya have vowed to retain their titles.
The two-day tournament began yesterday at the Molade Okoya-Tomas Indoor Sports hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
The duo told newsmen at the opening of the tournament that retaining their title was their utmost priority.
Ogunalade said that he had trained vigorously ahead of the competition so as to do well.
He said that he would put in all his best to ensure that the title did not slip away from him.
“It will gladden my heart if I retain the men’s singles title which I won last year. It is not an easy task, but I am prepared for it,” Ogunlade said.
Odusanya, the female defending champion said that she returned purposely to successfully retain her title and to show that she deserved winning.
She added that with her current skills, she could do so.
“I will play all my game cautiously and with utmost attention because that’s the only way I can retain the women’s singles title”, she said.
