The General Manager,

Alagoa, who dropped the hint at a media briefing held at the company’s head office at Onne, on Monday said the projects are part of their corporate social responsibilities to their host communities.
He said the roads currently being used by the various communities were constructed after due consultation with the chiefs and people of the areas on what priority projects they needed in their areas.
According to him, the roads are designed to last for years as they are of the same standard and qualities with those constructed at the company’s premises within the Onne Port complex.
The government and corporate affairs manager also disclosed that the roads are with solar energy street lights with drainages to ensure that there is no flood during the rainy season as they are all channeled to the sea.
He further hinted that the company focused on employment, empowerment and education for its host communities catchment areas, the state and South-South as part of its corporate policy, adding that an ultra-modern market project is on-going at Onne while an edifice had been completed at Olobulo market in Ogu and is currently being used by the people.
Alagoa stated that 190 companies are currently operating within the complex while 80 per cent of the workforce at Orlean Invest Limited, one of the major companies in Intels are indigenes, stressing that their relationship with host communities had been very cordial with good business atmosphere.
He equally said INTELS is currently engaging a total of 300 women from their host communities and outside undergoing training in sewing with consultants from India.
The idea is to train them on the skill and empower them for a living while those who have graduated were either engaged by the company or other companies for various jobs in catering forklifting, crane operators, among others.
The journalists were taken round the various departments of the Women Empowerment Project Scene Synergy Centre where company cover-alls of any specification of international standard were being sewed.
