A member of Rivers State
Football Association, RSFA, Mr. Kingsley Woke has called for the endorsement and recognition of Independent Grassroots Sports Development Association, IGSDA as development partner to the State and FA to galvanise grassroots football development.
According to Woke, who is also known as Baba Jugunu, he has followed the giant strides of IGSDA since 2012 under the founder, Prince Miebi Ogunu, and has been satisfied with their methods and achievements.
The FA member, who is also a Sports Philanthropist, was speaking when members of IGSDA visited him at his palace and commended the association’s leadership for its commitment, steadfastness and foresight in creating football programmes at the grassroots level in the state.
He called on the incoming administration in the State, political class, donor agencies and corporate organisations to support the giant strides of the association, noting that the more the youth are meaningfully engaged, the more crime rate would be reduced in the society.
Earlier, the founder and President of IGSDA, Prince Ogunu in an address said that the association was in Woke’s palace to appreciate his pioneering role in the development of grassroot sports. He stated that his association’s objectives included, among other things, to create tested Sports programme to discover talents and raise athletes with high moral standard which is lacking in present day sports administration.
He also wishes to form  one big grassroots sports development family in Nigeria.
He also called on the government and Corporate organisations to create and make available an enabling platform to make the association and its like to thrive.
