Former President of the Ogbakor Ikwerre, Chief Sampson Agbaru has hinted of possible reconciliation between outgoing Rivers State governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi and the incoming Governor, Barrister Nyesom Wike.

Agbaru gave the hint while voting at his home town, Ndele in Emohua Local Government Area during Saturday’s Council elections.

He told The Tide that Ikwerre elders have started working towards reconciling the two kinsmen, who before now, were political allies, but however, said the reconciliation will take time to achieve because of political differences.

The former Head of Service and Secretary to the State Government, said the basis of any reconciliation will be fairness and justice”, adding that Ikwerres have always remained one and will resist anything that will plant discord amongst them.

Agbaru said the current political development in the state was the result of lack of understanding between the “old” and the “new” generation politicians, insisting that when once the poltics of bitterness and hate were discarded, then the state will improve.

Commenting on last weekend’s local government elections, Agbaru observed that it was better than the one organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), “because of how those elections were conducted, some of us did not vote.

So, this one is better, and I commend RSIEC”.

The same position was held by Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Communication technology (ICT), Goodlife Nmekini, who voted at Ward 7, Unit 12 at Ndele in Emohua Local Government Area.

Nmekini said the council elections recorded huge turn out despite the heavy rain, expressing hope that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, lucky Worlu would emerge victorious for the Chairmanship position.

The SA on ICT lauded the vision and achievements of Governor Amaechi, saying, “there is no community or local government area you will go and not see the impact of Amaechi.”

APC Chairmanship candidate in the council elections for Emohua Local Government Area, Lucky Worlu, lauded the people of the area for defying the rains and voting for their candidates.

Worlu while expressing hope of defeating other candidates at the elections promised that his administration will evolve a blueprint for the transformation of the area.

The Emohua Council APC Chairmanship candidate assured that the outcome of the elections will not be upturned by the incoming administration, stating that so far, RSIEC has fulfilled all the requisites expected in conducting council polls, hence the elections were valid and constitutional.
