2016: Calabar ICC Wins APRA’s Hosting Right
The Calabar
International Conference Centre, ICC, has registered yet another success by winning the right to host the African Public Relations Association, APRA, coming up in May 2016. The project is already said to be a success story even before opening later this year.
APRA 2016 Conferences are flagship events organized by African Public Relations Association (APRA) – the umbrella body of all National Public Relations Associations in Africa. Its objective is to improve public relations co-operation and development in Africa.
Calabar ICC will be hosting the 28th APRA conference, bringing together over 500 practitioners in public relations, media, advertising, government and other marketing communications professionals from across the continent.
Announcing the executive board’s decision at La Falaise Hotel, APRA President, Mr. Peter Mutie, said Calabar’s bid, as presented by Mr. Asoro of Calabar ICC, emerged as the best of the competing countries, noting that, “Calabar ICC team put in an enormous effort to win the APRA 2016 bid.”
“The strategic bidding decisions we made as a team are going to benefit greatly Nigeria and in particular Calabar,” said Ben Asoro, Director Marketing and Sales.
“We will be working on parallel legacy projects to this event such as getting students from relevant institutions, like University of Calabar, to attend this high profile and once in a lifetime event, affording them an opportunity they would certainly not have had without the presence of a world class Convention Centre here in Calabar,” he added.
