Rivers FRSC Warns Motorists Against Fake Vehicle Licences
The Federal Road
Safety Corps (FRSC) has again advised motorists to ensure that they obtain genuine vehicles documents or risk being arrested and prosecuted.
The Sector Commander, Rivers State Sector Command, Mr Sunday Oghenekaro, gave the advice while fielding questions from journalists soon after a stakeholder’s forum held in Port Harcourt, recently.
Oghenekaro said obtaining fake drivers licence is a criminal offence that any culprit would pay dearly for it, adding that both the driver and whichever agent that issued the fake licence would be made to face the full wrath of the law if caught.
The FRSC boss in Rivers State said, “The licence is N6,350, why do people want to pay about N20,000 to touts who will give them a fake licence”, and called on every motorist to go to the designated offices, including FRSC headquarters at Aba Road, go through the stress-free process individually and obtain their genuine drivers licence rather than being victims to touts that are parading themselves as agents of the commission.
It has been sounded every now and then that no right thinking person should go through touts only to get fake documents, because at the end of the day, anyone caught will be arrested and prosecuted for having a fake document of fake vehicle registration numbers or licence”, Oghenekaro posited.
The sector commander also warned against under-aged drivers, stressing that the command would not allow anybody who is below the approved driving age to desist or also face the wrath of the law.
