Nwobodo Emerges Chairman Of Enugu NLC

Congress (NLC), Enugu State council, has elected a new NLC chairman. He is Mr Virginus Nwobodo.
He was elected at the delegate’s conference which took place in Enugu on Friday night.
Mr Onyekachi Okezie and Mr Eze Maurice emerged Vice Chairmen while Oraedu Nnenna emerged Vice Chairperson, Women Committee.
Mr Paul Nnaji was elected Treasurer, Lambert Onoh and Mr Edward Edema emerged state Auditors while Jane Ozoemena and Mr Ugwu Joseph emerged Ex-Officio members.
The returning officers to election, Dr Dipo Fasina and Mr Olusegun Rotimi, said they emerged as unopposed candidates.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the new executive, Nwobodo thanked the State Government for the conducive environment for the event.
He commended the outgoing state executive led by Chumaife Nze, the electoral committee and the entire delegates for their peaceful conduct and support in making the election a resounding success.
He pledged his loyalty to workers of Enugu state and promised to ensure that their efforts would not be in vain.
Earlier, the outgoing Chairman, Nze, thanked the workers for their support throughout his tenure.
Nze said that he regretted that the minimum wage struggle which was both national and state was not concluded.
He explained that despite the negotiation with the state government, the agreement reached was not signed till date.
“The actions and inactions of some of us frustrated the organised labour’s efforts in this direction.
“Not even the enormous efforts of the national body of NLC and TUC could save the situation.
“The actions of some of us to destabilize labour is very unfortunate’’, Nze said.
