GPHCDA Hands Over Site For Spare Parts Market
Arrangements have finally been concluded and the site for the construction of the ultra-modern spare parts market officially handed over to the members of Nigeria Automobile Technical Association, (NATA).
Secretary of Greater Port Harcourt Authority and representative of the Administrator, Mr John Synger, said in a statement yesterday that the effort was to “keep enhancing the beauty of the city of Port Harcourt”.
This is the reason why the state government moved to relocate spare parts dealers and mechanics from Ikokwu Bus Stop Area, Olu Obasanjo Road and other city centres to a Technicians Village.
The present partnership between Greater Port Harcourt and NATA is only the first phase where some 5,000 lock-up shops will stand on some 10 hectares of land off kilometre 17, Port Harcourt Aba Expressway, he added.
Head of Grand Support Engineering Consortium, Clifford Aluge, said the new spare parts market is one of a kind in South-South Nigeria, adding that the project will be complete in 18 months.
