‘Falcons Need To Start Looking Beyond Africa’
An ex-international Edema
Fuludu, at the weekend in Lagos said that Nigeria’s senior female national team, the Super Falcons, should look beyond dominating in Africa and push their experience to the world stage.
Fuludu was reacting to the 8-0 goals margin victory the Falcons recorded against their Malian counterparts at the Abuja National Stadium in the Africa Women football event in the upcoming All Africa Games.
The team won with a total goals aggregate of 9-1, having scored 1-1in Mali.
The former Warri Wolves Manager told newsmen in Lagos that more international friendly games should be organised to sharpen the skills of the players to give them competitive edge.
“Super Falcons have what it takes to be world beaters; they need more international friendly matches in order to be at par with other great teams in the world.
“I believe that the Nigeria Football Association is going to give these girls the type of support they need to actualise this.
“With the Women’s World Cup coming up sometime in June, friendly matches are important.
“When we defeat other Africa countries, even it is a good thing, I’m usually not moved because I believe these girls are better than any team in Africa and they should be projecting to make the world feel their impact and not just in Africa,” Fuludu said.
Since the competition’s inception in 1991, the Super Falcons remain the only team that has won the competition nine times, a record that has yet to be challenged by any other Africa country.
