Chiefs Charge Belema Oil On Environmental Pollution

Council of Traditional Rulers in the Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State has urged the management of Belema oil limited to address the issue of environmental pollution facing the area and other ports of the Niger Delta.
The Eze Oha 1 of Etitioha Owaza of Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, HRM Eze Obioma Nworgu, who said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt said that the environment of Etitioha Owaza is under threat owing to long years of oil exploration.
Eze Nworgu, said that while the people have endorsed Belema oil to operate in their areas it behoves on the management to ensure that its operations does not adversely affect the environment.
The king, however, expressed confidence on the ability of the company to be exemplary in its conduct as far as the environment is concerned as well as add more value to the lives of the people.
According to him, the oil producing communities in Etitioha-Owaza are very proud of Belema oil leadership style and commitment to the sustainable development of its host communities to enable the people to maximally benefit from the activities of the oil company.
He also described the managing director of the company, Engr Jac-RichTein as a God fearing man who will put smiles on the faces of the people of Etitioha-Owaza oil and gas grand Kingdom Eze Nworgu also urged the people at Ogoni and other oil producing  communities in the Niger Delta to put the past behind them and support the indigenous oil company with a view to solving their environmental problems.
He also advised the management of the company to ensure that everyone  is carried along in the scheme of things.
