Association Wants Firm To Honour Agreement
The Chairman of
Egbeda Landlord Youths Association in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Franklyn Isaiah, has called on Jocarls Investment Ltd to respect the truce reached between it and its host community.
Mr. Isaiah who stated this while speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt at the weekend, explained that the community had been patient despite the snail speed of the negotiation between the parties.
He noted that the recent agreement between Investment Ltd and its host community was to the effect that the parties would discuss payment shortly after the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in Rivers State.
Mr Isiah said the 18th of April was billed for the commencement of negotiation. He said though the company had been sluggish, the community had continued to watch with calm resignation as events infolded.
The youth chairman remarked that a lot of things had gone wrong in the transactions between the company and its host.
According to him,” we need to iron out these things so that there would be mutual respect for both parties.
Mr. Isiah recalled that Akor and Fidelis Ltd was the company that acquired the community’s land.
He said he could not understand whether Akor and Fidelis was acquired by Jocarls Investment Ltd.
It will be recalled that the company’s host community had protested against what they described as “illegal expropriation of their farmlands.”
The chairman said both the company and community would witness a new lease of life if both parties respected the agreement reached so far.
He told the company to ensure that it performed its corporate social responsibility.
