Assembly Polls Hold In Emohua, Other LGAs, ’Morrow

National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the postponed and inconclusive elections in last Saturday House of Assembly polls in Rivers State will hold this Saturday, 18th April,2015.
The Rivers State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dame Gesila Khan who stated this last Wednesday in a statement noted that the Assembly polls would hold in all the Wards in Emohua Local Government Area, while in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, elections would hold in Wards 1,2,7,9,10 and 11.
Khan also said that in Ahoada East Constituency One, election would hold in Wards 1, 2,3,4,11,12 and 13, while in Ahoada East Constituency two, polls would hold in Wards 5,6,7,8,9 and 10.
In Etche Constituency 1, polls will be conducted in Wards 10, 12, 17,18 and 19, while in Etche Constituency two elections would hold in Wards 1,7,8,13,15.
The commission had earlier approved that elections would be held in all wards and units that elections were inconclusive on Sunday 12th April, 2015, but it could not.
The local government areas and Wards affected include Abua Ward 1, Asari Toru Ward 13, Bonny Ward 12, Degema Wards 11,12 and 13, Emohua Ward 4 and Obio/Akpor Wards 15 and 16.
The statement signed by the commissioner also indicated that elections were cancelled in all the places where materials were snatched, although she did not state the affected local governments, Wards or units.
Sources at the INEC however, disclosed to The Tide that the elections could not hold in the affected areas on the 12th, April, due to the high tension that followed the April 11 governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state.
