ASCSN Assures President-Elect Of Support
The leadership of Asso
ciation of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), has pledged its total support for the incoming administration of the president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari upon assumption of office come May 29, 2015.
A statement issued in Lagos by the union’s National President, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigana, said the union is ready to have a harmonious working relationship with General Muhammadu Buhari’s administration once it is inaugurated.
Kaigama urged the incoming administration to strive for good governance, stressing that there is high hope among Nigerians that the incoming administration at the federal level would bring fresh perspectives to bear on governance and the nation’s economy.
He said the union believes that the challenges that lay ahead are enormous for the incoming administration, but nonetheless, the union believes that with hard-work, perseverance and selfless service to the nation, the incoming federal government will overcome those surmountable challenges and move the country to the next level of development.
He reminded the president-elect that Nigerians today yearn for good governance, freedom of conscience and freedom of expression in order for them to participate actively on how they are governed as free citizens entitled to fundamental human rights in a democratic society.
The union boss said the world is watching the president-elect to see how he would fare in his second coming as Nigerian leader.
He said the union expects the in-coming administration to hit the ground running and live up to expectations of many Nigerians who crave for change by healing the wounds and bitterness occasioned by the electioneering campaigns.
The union charged the president-elect to lift Nigeria to a greater heights by addressing the myriads of problems facing the country including economic problems, infrastructural decay, energy crisis, joblessness and on top of it all corruption.
Kaigama enjoined Buhari to be focused and be wary of public officials who may want to advise him to toe the path of retrenching workers in the name of reforms, stressing that such step would worsen the already precarious situation the country has found itself.
The union explained that it expects the administration to plug the loopholes where heavy leakages from the treasury are experienced an daily basis and ensure robust management of the economy from May 29 after the inauguration.
