…As Imo Citizens Charge Gov On LGs, Quality Education

The people of Imo
have charged Gov. Rochas Okorocha to revive local government councils in the state in his second term in office.
Reacting to Okorocha’s victory at the April 25 supplementary election in the state, the people said it was imperative that the councils were repositioned to bring the dividends of democracy to them.
In separate interviews with the newsmen in Owerri, the residents also appealed to the governor to ensure that free and qualitative education was sustained in the state.
They also urged him to reinstate the 10,000 youths recently sacked, who were employed during Gov. IkediOhakim’s tenure.
MrIssiahDurugo, a businessman, expressed gratitude to God that there was no crisis throughout the election in the state.
He advised those who lost during the election not to go to court but to accept defeat in good faith, saying that the outcome was the wish of the people.
Durugo said that the conduct of the election was free and fair.
Also reacting, MrUcheIheakanwa, the President of South East Movement for Change, said that his joy knew no bounds because of the victory of Okorocha at the polls.
Iheakanwa charged the returning governor to continue to demonstrate visionary leadership and carry out people-oriented programmes that would better the lives of the masses and take the state to greater heights.
Speaking on the election, Mr Eric Nwanom, the Director General of Science and Technology at the Government House, Owerri, described the election outcome as a swift victory that came with precision in spite of odds.
