No fewer than 250
youths of Ngbuelia in Rundele Community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, over the weekend benefitted from an empowerment programme of the Special Adviser to Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, on Information Communications and Technology (ICT), Hon Goodliffe Nmekini.
While some were given cash to establish businesses to sustain their lives, others got wrappers, clothings and other items.
Speaking at the empowerment award ceremony which held at Ngbuelia square, the special adviser said he had in the recent past empowered the mothers and fathers of the community through foundation named after his mother as well as the widows.
“I believe that the youths are the future leaders of the country and it will be incomplete to plan for the country or society and exclude them,” he said.
Hon Nmekini further noted that the youths had been peaceful and non-violent over the years and that the gesture was a way of thanking them for their peaceful disposition and urging them to keep it up and to also advise youths in the country who might be in the opposite direction to be peaceful and non-violent as no meaningful development could take place in any violent society.
The Special Adviser described his gesture as part of the campaign by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state against violence especially during elections in the country.
“I have always told them, whoever that is really convinced that PDP is his or her party should vote for PDP while those who chose APC should vote for APC. That is the idea behind democracy, but it must be through non-violent approach.
Nmekini stated that Rundele community had benefitted tremendously under the APC leadership in the state led by Governor Rotimi Amaechi in terms of infrastructure, scholarship, provision of five modern primary schools, health centre and the political appointments and urged them to appreciate the governor’s gestures by supporting and voting for APC candidates in the elections.
