WYC: Nigeria, Ghana To Meet South American Giants

The groups for the 2015 FIFA Under-20 World Cup (WYC) in New Zealand were finalised at the weekend following the conclusion of the African Youth Championship in Senegal.
African Youth Championship winners, Nigeria claimed her seventh continental crown with a 1-0 win over the host nation, Bernard Bulbwa’s goal enough to secure yet another championship.
The Flying Eagles will now meet five-time U-20 World Champions Brazil, North Korea and Hungary in Group E at the World Cup in two months time.
AYC runners-up Senegal were drawn in Group D alongside Mexico, Serbia and 2013 runners-up Uruguay.
Ghana, who finished as bronze medalist at the 2015 AYC, were drawn in Group B along with Panama, Austria and six-time winners Argentina.
Mali, who claimed fourth spot at the 2015 AYC, will be out to fend off Columbia, Qatar and Portugal in what promises to be a hotly contested Group C.
The Black Satellites of Ghana are Africa’s most successful country at Under-20 World Cups, having claimed the continents only title, beating Brazil in the 2009 final in Egypt.
The 2015 showpiece kicks-off on 30 May with the final set for Auckland on 20 June.
