Top Nollywood Stars Set For War

The information mak
ing rounds in the entertainment industry has it that top Nollywood stars have shown great interest to participate in the 2015 edition of “Walk Against Rape” (WAR) scheduled for Tuesday, March 10 in Lagos.
They include: Kate Henshaw, Monalisa Chinda, Desmond Elliot, Joseph Benjamin, Ini Edo, Omobaba, and Emmanuel Ikabase. (Mr Nigeria) Mercy Aigbe, Iyabo Ojo, Kemi Akindoju, Emma Nyra and a host of others.
The ‘Walk Against Rape” which is already in its fifth edition is an initiative of a  social activist, Esther Ijewere-Kalejaiye and has received a major boost with its endorsement by the Lagos State government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs overseen by the Deputy Governor, Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adeulire.
It was gathered that WAR is a special demonstration that brings together, parents, guardians, teachers, youth advocates, social activists, actors, sports personalities, media practitioners, artistes, comedians, youth organizations, showbiz personalities, students, etc to lend a voice to sexually abused persons (particularly women and children).  It is  also an avenue to show support to the course of bringing to an end to rape which is gradually eating deep into the Nigerian society.
According to the project coordinator, Esther Ijewere-Kalejaiye, the aim is to help in encouraging victims to speak out and reduce the stigmatization attached to victims of sexual abuse and rape as well as use ‘Walk Against Rape’ as a platform to inform the society about the soaring scourge of sexual abuse especially as it relates to young girls and women in general. This year’s event concise with the annual world women’s day celebration.
