Stakeholder Lauds FG Over 1,672 Houses
A quantity surveyor
and stakeholder in the housing sector, Mr. Gladson Elem, has commended the Minister of lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi, for putting to good use the land allocated to the ministry for building of 1,672 houses in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He said that the provision of the 1,672 houses will go a long way to reduce the housing deficit in the country, and urged the developer to do a good job.
Elem, who made this known to The Tide in Port Harcourt, in a chat, said that the demand for housing has remained a major challenge across the country and that any effort made towards tackling this challenge is most commendable.
The building stakeholder however urged the minister to also intensify efforts in ensuring that such project is replicated at least in major cities across the country, where the number of home seekers are high.
“This is the first project of its kind as the minister in charge of lands and housing, so the implementation of what you do will open the gateway for you to do more jobs, and after now other states should also be a part of this project”, he said.
The Federal Government and Messrs Signature Value Homes Limited recently signed over $80 million Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop 1,672 houses in the FCT.
The minister signed for the federal government, while Mr. Anand Romani signed for signature value homes.
