Rivers PDP Denies Alliance With Police
The Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), Rivers State, has denied any alliance with the Nigerian Police Force to arrest and intimidate members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.
The APC had in a statement signed by the media aide to the APC chairman, Chukwuemeka Eze, accused the PDP and the Nigerian Police of arresting and intimidating members of the APC in the state.
Speaking during a press conference in Port Harcourt, the PDP Assistant Publicity Secretary, Nwanosike Samuel, said neither him nor his party was planning evil against the APC, insisting that the PDP is a law abiding party and will never associate itself with any form of violence or criminal act.
He described the allegation as baseless and lacking in merit, adding that no group or persons should be allowed to play politics with the security of the state as such is capable of instigating a break- down, of law and order in the state.
According to Nwanosike, the names mentioned by the media aide to the APC Chairman has proven that the PDP were right in its assumption that the APC were engaged in arming notorious criminal ahead of the 2015 general election.
Reacting to the statement issued by the APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Chris Finebone, that the withdrawal of the C41 security outfit by the AIG in-charge of Zone 6, Calabar, Tunde Ogunsakin, was to pave way for the assassination of the APC gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, Nwanosike said the statement shows that the APC has been using the C41 security outfit against political opponents in the state.
