All Progressives Grand
Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, has expressed satisfaction with INEC’s preparedness for the general elections in the state.
He made the remark in Umuahia when he spoke with newsmen shortly after visiting Prof. Selina Oko, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Abia State.
He said, “We have elections coming up on Saturday and I am here as a stakeholder.
“I needed to come to ascertain the level of preparedness by the commission; to be sure that things are going okay and I can say I am satisfied with the explanations by the REC.
“We had engaged the REC; we asked a lot of questions and I can confirm that she is ready for the elections.”
Otii said that Oko informed him that sensitive and non-sensitive materials had arrived the state, adding that the commission had made adequate plans for the polls.
He expressed concern that members of some political parties in the state had breached the recent peace accord signed by their leaders to ensure peaceful conduct of the elections.
“Well, you know we signed peace accord and we expect our opponents will respect the accord,” he said.
The APGA flag bearer said that his campaign team had been attacked on several occasions by hired thugs and urged the leaders of other parties and politicians to respect the peace accord.
“We have avoided violence because we don’t believe that blood should be shed for this election,” he said.
