The Federal
Government has said that the implementation of Nigeria Oil and Gas Park Scheme (NOGaPS) would facilitate local manufacturing of goods for the oil and gas industry.
The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mr Danladi Kifasi, said this in Abuja on Thursday  at the 15th Nigerian Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition.
He said the implementation of the scheme by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) would no doubt reduce the number of job seekers but would increase job creators.
He said with the scheme, the board was focusing on developing a pool of SMEs to become Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
According to him, this is yet another demonstration of the versatility of the Nigerian entrepreneur.
“The training programmes being implemented by NCDMB will produce local talents that will drive our quest to become one of the top 20 economies in the world by 2020,” he said.
He commended all the indigenous producers, service companies and International Oil Companies (IOCs) that supported and benefited from Nigerian content implementation in the last five years.
He said the level of support and cooperation among the stakeholders in the sector would make it become the major contributor to Nigeria’s GDP.
He said that this could be achieved through various value additional activities ranging from manufacturing, job creation to services.
