NOA Harps On Peaceful Polls
The National Orien
tation Agency (NOA) has urged Nigerians to support government institutions in ensuring the success of the general elections.
NOA’s Director-General, Mr Mike Omeri, gave the advice when he paid a visit to the Traditional Prime Minister of Nimo in Njikoka Local Council Area of Anambra.
The visit was part of activities of a one-day sensitisation programme organised by the agency ahead of the polls.
Omeri, represented by NOA’s Director in the state, Mr George Njoku, urged Nigerians to support the Federal Government’s developmental programmes, policies and activities at all times.
Omeri also advised people to participate actively in the election process by collecting their Permanent Voter Cards.
He, however, assured Nigerians of the commitment of government towards conducting peaceful elections.
Responding, the traditional prime minister, Justice Godwin Ononuba, urged NOA to always stand by the truth in the course of discharging its statutory functions.
“We should encourage the Rule of Law and justice in the country at all times and as well as encourage the complete practice of the Presidential system of government as it is done in developed countries, to checkmate corruption and divide and rule practices,” he said.
In a lecture, a Deputy Director of the Agency, Dr Mike Ozoemena, said the seminar was aimed at deliberating on how best to accomplish the success of the polls.
