Justice Lambo Akambi
of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has declined ruling rule on the bail application of the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Etche Local Government Area, Hon. Charles Anyanwu and four APC stakeholders for what he described as a petition against him.
The LGA boss and four others are standing trial on one count charge bordering on illegal possession of firearms by the state police command.
The case was adjourned to Monday for ruling on their bail application by the trial judge having had all the applications from both counsels from the prosecution and defenders.
But when the matter was called upon by the court clerk and all the counsels in the matter including the suspects were present.
The trial judge, Justice Lambo Akambi, however, told the audience in the court room that he would no longer proceed with his ruling on the matter adding that there was a pending petition against him by one of the parties in the matter.
He averred that the petitioner in his petition he addressed to the Chief Judge of the Federation alleged that he was in the payroll of the state governor, and there  his impartiality in the matter was questionable.
Justice Akanbi further disclosed that the petitioner urged the chief judge to direct him to withdraw from adjusting the matter based on the alleged relationship with the state government.
The trial judge therefore held that he would not continue the matter until there is a directive from the chief judge of the federation, who according to him is his boss.
He later adjourned the matter indefinitely. Speaking to journalists, one of the counsels in the matter, Barr Emenike Ebete, said the judge acted well in his decision to adjourn the matter indefinitely because the issue involved in the petition bordered on the impartiality and fairness of the judge in the matter.
