‘IJE Producer Decries Exploitation In Nollywood

winning block buster movie titled Ije, the Journey, Chineze Anyaene has explained why she has not produced another movie few years after she produced the film that broke the box office record in Nigeria making over N59.8 million in six months.
Anyaene decried the heights of exploitation in Nollywood revealing that tax took over 20 per cent of the money she realized while the cinemas took half of what remained.
The movie featured two A-list actresses Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jacade-Ekeinde who are regarded by many as Nollywood rivals.
Chineze who studied Theater Arts at the university of Abuja and film at the Newyork Film Academy, United States, however revealed that she is working on a new project which will soon hit the screens.
Meanwhile, a new movie titled, “The Antique” a fictional story inspired by events of the Southern Nigeria people in the 19th century is making waves in most cinema houses across the country including Silverbird Cinemas Port Harcourt.
The movie has a technique that combines theatrical aesthetics and culturally derived meanings; cultivated for utilitarian purposes. It features Olu Jacobs, Oge Indiana, Rykardo Agbor, Bowoto Jephtah, Bimbo Akintola.
