Daddy Showkey Bounces Back After Years In Limbo …The T.B. Joshua Connection
Daddy Showkey, the
Ajegunle born ‘Galala’ crooner is a household name in the Nigerian music clan. The former Glo Ambassador pioneered the “Galala” dance most Nigerian artistes of today now embrace, while performing. The popular Shoki dance is regarded by many as a modernization of Showkey’s Galala dance.
Showkey’s best hit tracks were released in the early and mid 90s and he enjoyed rave reviews across the length and breath of the country, with his popularity came success. His Diana Song is regarded by producers as one of the best selling singles in Nigeria’s music history, it was a song enjoyed by the young and old.
The Ajengule Ghetto brought up was often the star of many shows organized and sponsored by multinational companies and along with it, he made so much money. At the turn of the 90s, Showkey’s fortunes nose dived, those who have followed the career of the Delta born musician say the change in his fortune was not as a result of bad planning, but simply because his brand of music soon became obsolete and a new form of music by new breed musicians spread like wild fire and was quickly accepted by the youths.
These new breed of Nigerians are indigenous rap music and Naija Pop made popular by the likes of Olamide, Wizkid,- Davido, Timaya, DonJazzy, D’bang, Terry G Flavour etc. If there was anything left for Showkey to do, it was for him to seek the face of God in the revival of his dwindling career, a move he heeded as fast as possible when he was introduced to Prophet T. B. Joshua of the Synagogue Church of all nations who prayed for him.
It was gathered that the Ghetto soldier has been visiting the Ikotun Headquarters of the Synagogue Church for sometime now for prayer counselling and the results have been overwhelming. In April 2014, Showkey rejuvenated his music career when he gave the first hint of his comeback after years in Limbo.
In August of that same year, he released a single titled ‘Asalamabeez’, featuring Harry Song, there was also a talk about Wizkid having a collabo with Showkey recently and his music revival has also taken a huge leap since then. He is said to be smiling to the bank as a result of his new found contract and connection to top politicians who still believe in his abilities.
In a recent picture that went viral in the internet, Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, was seen dancing Galala with Showkey at a ‘thank you’ concert organized by entertainers of Delta origin in honour of the governor in Asaba, Delta State. According to our source, Showkey has never failed to acknowledge the spiritual guidance provided by Prophet T.B. Joshua of the Synagogue Church in reviving his music career.
