Harcourt and some other parts of Rivers State have hailed the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) for what they described as remarkable improvement in electricity supply.
In Mile II Diobu, Chinyere Alozie, who lives in Obidianso street said, “it was as if PHED was a different company. Supply was quite good and I was very happy with the company.
Alozie, who noted that the improvement could be as a result of directive from above’ because of the Presidential election urged the company to sustain the effort.
Another respondent, Emma Peters, who lives in Dim Street, Mile III, Diobu said, “Just at about 7am, there was light and I can say the light remained till late in the night of Saturday, March 28 except few occasions when there were interruptions but I tell you interruptions were for few minutes.”
“I am happy with PHED, if the company can continue in this way the people will be glad compared to the epileptic nature of supply the company is known for,” said Peters.
At Ahoada, in Odiemerenyi  street, Mr Christmas George, who resides there said, “there was light through out yesterday, PHED took it late in the night and also brought it back Sunday morning.”
“Yesterday, I was asking myself, so it is possible for electricity supply to last as long as this? It gives me hope and I urge the company to do whatever it can do to sustain this good service,” he stated.
At Mba, in Etche local government area, there was light for the whole of Saturday. According to Ikechi Amaefule, it has never been like that since inception of the rural electrification in the area.
Amaefule believes it was because of the presidential election that took place on that day and appealed to the company to sustain the tempo. “It means it is possible for constant power supply to be actualized in the country,” he said.
