Coach Hails N’Delta Cycling Competition
The coach of Rivers
State Cycling Association, Emmanuel Onosanya, has expressed excitement over the turn-out of competition at the monthly cycling competition in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The association at the weekend held the February edition of the cycling competition tagged Niger Delta Cycling Championship with impressive number of cyclists in attendance.
The competition which is usually held among states in the Niger Delta region is used to prepare the cyclists from the states for the forthcoming 19th National Sports Festival (NSF) and other National Competitions.
According to Onosanya, the competition would help to keep the state athletes fit and improve their standards and also enhance their performance.
However, the event which took place early hours of Saturday had good number of spectators and participants in attendance.
Onosonya, said that, since the annual “Garden City Championship is yet to come up due to the 2015 general elections, the monthly cycling event now helps to keep the cyclists focused and prepared in the absence of other competition.
“The Garden City cycling championship is normally held every second month of a new year, but was postponed due to the upcoming general elections,” he said.
