Alleged Split In Andoni APC, Baseless -State Chairman
The Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State Chief (Dr.) Davies Ibiamu Ikanya has described as baseless and false, allegation of a faction in the All Progressives Congress in Andoni Local Government Area.
Addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt, Chief Ikanya described those peddling the rumour as enemies of the party in the area, adding that the party remains intact and unite in Andoni.
“We wish to state unequivocally that the All Progressives Congress in Andoni LGA is one united and indivisible entity forging ahead and both capable and ready to win the forth-coming elections in Andoni LGA.
“We call on the general public to discountenance such report as it is completely false, baseless and deliberately intended to cast aspersions on the person and unimpeachable character of the State Chairman and mislead the members of the APC in Andoni LGA, Rivers State and Nigeria at large”, he said.
The party Chairman who spoke through his Personal Assistant Hon. Imie Benson Alpheaus said that no one can divide the party in Andoni and warned against rumour mongering.
He also queried the rationale behind the allegations noting that if it is about the appointment of the caretaker Chairman, why did other positions such as, House of Assembly and House of representative not raise any dust.
He described the new Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Esuku M. Esuku as the choice of the party members in the Local Government Area and described as self-serving the alleged walkout of some members of the party during a meeting in Port Harcourt.
The Party Chairman alleged that those who purportedly walked out of the meeting were actualizing their movements back to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He used the occasion to call on all supporters of the party in the area to remain calm and law-abiding and desist from being used to cause trouble in the party.
Chief Ikanya also denied that he challenged the unit executives of the party both in Andoni and other parts of the state, stressing that the unit executives in place, were changed one year ago.
