The authorities of Abuja
Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) have expressed worry over negative impact of vandalism and poor access to the national grid in supplying power to the company’s franchise area.
Managing Director of AEDC, Mr Neil Croucher, disclosed this at a meeting with consumes in Mpape district, Thursday.
The company boss also listed inadequate funding, theft of energy, inadequate power generation, inadequate gas supply as well as health and safety issues.
Croucher said AEDC lacks adequate power and that its distribution capacity is limited to the volume of power allocated to the company.
“We don’t have enough power, and what we give out is what is allocated to us. We are ready to take more allocation if it is given to us”, the MD said.
The AEDC boss, who was represented at the event by the company’s Executive Director,  Commercial Services, Engr Ernest Mupwaya, however expressed optimism that power supply would soon improve with all that the government was putting in place.
Some consumers expressed disappointment that in spite of all the huge amount of money, that the government said it had injected into the power sector, Nigerians were yet to see any appreciable improvement.
In similar development in Malali area of Kaduna, residents of Hilaru Dantoro and Nnakada roads have commended the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC) for replacing the two armoured cables serving the area.
