AAG: Dream Team VI Disappoints Against Zambia …Falcons Fail To Beat Mali
Nigeria U23 team
Dream Team VI must rue missed chances after Zambia yesterday in Abuja held them to a goalless draw in a qualifying match for the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo.
The overall winners after the return leg in Zambia will advance to the football event for the All Africa Games.
Nigeria created several openings in Sunday’s game but their finishing let them down with Ajayi Junior and Etebo Oghenekaro as the worst culprits.
By the half hour mark, Oghenekaro had fluffed three clear-cut chances, while on 25 minutes, Ajayi missed from only four yards as Nigeria Dream Team piled on the pressure in search of an opening goal.
Meanwhile, their female compatriots and African champions Super Falcons of Nigeria also failed to beat Mali in a qualifier for the All Africa Games women’s football event as they played a 1-1 draw in Bamako on Saturday.
Ngozi Okobi gave the coach Edwin Okon-led team the lead in the 67th minute, but goalkeeper Whyte Ibubeleye’s error as she failed to clear Ngozi Ebere’s back pass resulted in Mali’s equaliser in the 82nd minute.
