WKA Targets Grassroots For Talents
The World Kick Boxing
Association (WKA) Nigeria chapter in partnership with Rivers State kickboxing, Assocation, has agreed to hunt for and develop talents at the grassroots as part of programme for their 2015 Calender.
The Nigeria representative of the W.K.A. Sensei Victor Bassey, made this known at the weekend in an interview with Tidesports at the kickboxing gymnasium at the Alfred Diette-Spiff Sports Complex, Port Harcourt.
According to him, the aim of the programme was to discover and set up formidable state team that can take-over from fighters who have already passed their prime. The programme which is expected to involve training and screening events would be held at the 23 Local Government Areas in the state.
Sensei Bassey, also said that in the end of the exercise a competition would be held among the various LGAs to select the best talents to form the state team to represent the state and country in National and international competitions. Meanwhile, the W.K.A would visit Obio/Akpor LGA in April to commence its training events.
It would be recalled that the programme kicked-off last year in Okrika LGA with a seminar for officials and Coaches.
