Rivers State Governor and Director-General of Buhari Campaign Organisation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi says victory for Gen.Muhammadu Buhari as President of Nigeria and Dr. Dakuku Peterside as Rivers State governor is inevitable in the forthcoming February 14th and 28th 2015 general elections.
Amaechi who stated this yesterday said the yearnings for change of leadership in the country necessitated the call for the All Progressives Congress presidential flagbearer, Gen Muhammadu Buhari to bridge the gap of underdevelopment and corruption in Nigeria.
According to him, “I want the people of Rivers State to be part of the wind of change that will come. This is the time for Rivers people and other Nigerians in the state to reciprocate our contributions by supporting APC because President Jonathan has already admitted that he did not attract or execute any project in Rivers State under his administration. I have told President Jonathan that since he refused to give account for the 2million votes in 2011 elections, the election  in Rivers State will be a referendum. I have also said time without number that anywhere I find myself with President Jonathan, I will continue to remind him of my performance and achievements, which is the only way to prove my commitment to serve Rivers people.
“We have commenced work on the Trans-Kalabari road and that is why I want Rivers people to vote the All Progressives Congress, for us to win the February 2015 elections. Most of you are aware of the World Bank loan that was granted to provide potable drinking water for Rivers people, President Jonathan refused to sign it. What about my request for him to commence the building of Train seven of the Bonny NLNG Project?”
“President Jonathan only told me he was making preparations to build the Brass NLNG in Bayelsa State. That is why I said, President Jonathan does not regard Rivers people, he does not like us. President Jonathan is the cause of our suffering today”, Amaechi said.
Amaechi also called on Nigerians, home and abroad to see the missing N30 trillion in the nation’s coffers as observed by the former CBN Governor, Charles Soludo, as a fundamental flaw in Jonathan’s administration of promoting corruption, stating that Buhari deserves a fair chance.
He warned the PDP to stop the incitement of political propaganda against the forthcoming February elections, saying APC will remain committed to the rules of ensuring free, fair and credible elections.
“PDP is surprised that the PVC machine will check electoral fraud. That is why they have the N30 trillion Charles Soludo said they stole to come to every campaign ground and share wrappers and rice for you to vote for them. What President Jonathan has not done in Rivers State, even if you give him another chance, he will not perform”, Amaechi explained.
Amaechi, who also embarked on a door-to-door campaign in the Diobu axis of the state told the people to vote massively for the All Progressives Congress. He also met with traders of the Mile 1 and Mile 3 Markets as well as the Ikoku Spare parts sellers .
“Don’t say no to Buhari and Dr. Dakuku Peterside. We must all vote for the APC for the presidential ticket to Governorship ticket and others”, Amaechi said.
At the Ikoku Spare Parts Dealers Market where he addressed thousands of supporters, Amaechi averred that the victory of Buhari and Dakuku Peterside after the general elections will be celebrated by President Jonathan and Nigerians.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of Buhari Presidential Campaign Organisation and Rivers State governor, Rt. Hon Chibuike Amaechi has explained reasons why the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate opted out of the BON moderated presidential debate.
Amaechi said during a chat with newsmen shortly after arriving Port Harcourt on Monday that  the party preferred a town hall meeting to a debate.
The governor, said “town hall meeting is more people oriented because it provides room for people to ask questions directly by themselves, unlike the situation where the compeers will be the one to ask questions.”
The Rivers State governor affirmed that the party was ready for the elections saying Nigerians are yearning for change and that APC provides alternative to the Peoples Democratic Party misrule in the past 16 years,
Amaechi said the Presidency does not have the power to postpone the elections.
He emphasized that only the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has the right to do so saying, “you can’t get people to spend billions of naira and you say you are postponing the elections.”
However, Rivers State Governor and Director-General of Buhari Campaign Organisation Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has dispelled rumours by critics that Buhari will Islamize Nigeria.
He also said the issue was unnecessary as the nation’s constitution had already guaranteed freedom of worship and association to all citizens in the country.
Amaechi who stated this yesterday during the state APC campaign tour to Emohua Local Government Area of the State warned Christian leaders commercializing the name of Jesus Christ in the church to desist forthwith as further perpetration could incite public disturbances.
According to him, “Nobody can Islamize Nigeria. I also want to warn church leaders to stop commercializing the church of Jesus Christ. Especially, those men of God who collect money from the PDP to give false prophesy.
“Ikwerre people and Emohua people need to stand by me because I have performed in Rivers State. You are expected to vote APC from the Presidential ticket to the governorship ticket. We shall all vote for General Muhammadu Buhari and Dr Dakuku Peterside because of the existing poverty level in the country and unemployment. We shall punish President Jonathan with our votes”, Amaechi said.
The state chief executive also lambasted the PDP guber candidate, Chief Nyesom Wike on lack of leadership ideology, adding that as former Supervising Minister of Education he could not attract any developmental project in the Education Sector to the state.
He also called on the PDP flag-bearer for Rivers East Senatorial District, Senator George Thompson Sekibo not to go against the zoning arrangement, stating that Rt. Hon. Andrew Uchendu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has already been zoned to take the slot in the upcoming February elections.
The people of Ikwerre and Emohua have given their votes and support to George Thompson Sekibo on the platform of PDP twice. He cannot go against our zoning arrangement. This time, the slot is for Chief Andrew Uchendu”, Amaechi explained.
Earlier, at the University of Port Harcourt, Choba, where the APC campaign train met with thousands of students’ supporters of APC,  Amaechi assured that he will never relent in his efforts in promoting quality education for Nigerian youths.
On his part, the Guber candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Dr Dakuku Adol-Peterside said, he has mapped out three strategic policies to build a social contract with Rivers people, if voted into power in the February general elections.
“I have three strategic policies to build a social contract with Rivers people. Firstly, all projects commenced by Governor Amaechi that were not completed will be completed in my administration.
We shall also go ahead to lift the people of Emohua out of poverty, improve mechanized farming, support Agric extension services and build cottage industries. Internal security will be guaranteed to ensure that insecurity in Rumuekpe and Ibaa are controlled. APC supporters should be vigilant and execute their social contract by voting and monitoring the election results so that the future of our state will be secured”, Dakuku said.
